MBA in Business Administration

The MBA prepares professionals for leadership roles in financial institutions, market infrastructures, FinTechs and supervisory bodies. It combines a general management core with a deep specialisation and a Master’s thesis.

MSc in Business Informatics & Data Science

Specialisations: Quantitative Finance · Financial Markets · Intraday, Day & High-Frequency Trading

The MSc educates the engineers and data scientists of the financial markets. It combines a rigorous methods core with a deep specialisation and a research or engineering thesis.

Core (30 ECTS)

  • Programming and Data Engineering for Finance (Python, SQL, cloud)
  • Statistics, Econometrics and Time Series
  • Machine Learning and Applied AI
  • Information Systems, Market Infrastructure and Security
  • Research Methods and Scientific Computing

Specialisation (30 ECTS)

Master’s thesis (30 ECTS)

  • Research or engineering thesis, optionally with an industry partner. SIDF and EIM faculty supervise the thesis.

Learning outcomes

  • Formulate, implement and evaluate quantitative models and data-driven systems for financial markets
  • Understand and apply the regulatory framework of the European and Swiss financial markets
  • Design trading, risk or infrastructure solutions and assess their economic, technical and ethical effects
  • Do independent research with sound methods (Master’s thesis)

Admission requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognised institution
  • MBA: two or more years of relevant professional experience
  • MSc: a quantitative or technical first degree, or evidence of equivalent skills (portfolio, primers)
  • English at level B2 or higher
  • Admission interview

Frequently asked questions

Can I study while I work full-time?

Yes. The programmes are designed for professionals. Live seminars take place in the evening or at the weekend. We record all seminars. You can adjust the pace between 12 and 24 months.

Which title do I receive?

Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Science (MSc). EIM (European Institute of Management) awards the title with a transcript and a Europass Diploma Supplement.

Do I have to come to Switzerland?

No. All teaching and all assessments are digital. We can offer optional events on site, for example a graduation ceremony or industry days.

SIDF faculty, EIM faculty and guest lecturers teach the courses. The guest lecturers come from banks, trading firms, market infrastructures and supervisory authorities.
